color cards

i've been having fun making these 3.5 x 5.5 collages. i love digging up scraps to complete these collages. i am thinking about making wall hangings from these collages.

i heart etsy shops!

art cards

my mom gave me a deck of 3.5 x 5.5 feng shui cards. i love the sturdiness and the rounded corners. i am not one for following yoga/meditiation/feng shui decks so i am going to keep altering these into small collage pieces. i am also thinking they would look nice if they were attached to one another somehow, like a wall hanging or paper quilt.

latest journal entries

here is my latest collage in my journal, it's sunny and bright which is definitely not the weather in sf right now. it's all foggy and cold and damp. the yellow paper is actually 'spring sale' postcards from anthropologie that i picked up today i liked the bright pattern and how happy yellow looks.

i did a foolish thing today. when i left the house i forgot my keys. it's funny because i just realized it when i shut the door and then i couldn't get back inside because nobody else was home.

ephemera used in this collage:
vivienne westwood exhibit brochure
envelope from germany - i love the flower stamps
tree graphic from a business card
green tissue paper
catalog page
map
foreign text page

i like how pretty the colors and patterns are.

atc display

atc display

i've been trading actively at the best forum for atcs called atcards and it's quite addictive to join in on swaps and trading one on one with people around the world. this also means i have a growing collection of atcs!

atc display

i've been storing them in little atc sized books with clear pockets in them. they hold 40 cards. i got them at a dollar store in japantown called ichiban kan. but when i moved up to the attic room in my house i wanted an atc gallery! since there's a lot more room in the attic, but slanted ceilings. so i decided to do a clothesline type of display. i just used string and pushpins to anchor the string, then got a lot of airplane clips at the dollar store.

atc display

i think it's such an easy, inexpensive way to display them - no frames needed.

vivienne westwood at the de young museum

today i decided to go to the deyoung museum to see the vivienne westwood exhibit. she's a very influential british fashion designer, plus this is the exhibit's only US stop.

it was amazing to look at her collections, and there was so much to see. the exhibit was organized chronologically and it was great to see how her clothes change in design from punk to mini crini to tailored. it was like stepping into someone's really amazing wardrobe.

the exhibit showed lots of runway clips of models twirling and dancing and just looking like they were having fun. at the end of the exhibit, there were three amazingly beautiful ball gowns that remind me of a time long ago of extravagance, where people actually got dressed up in their very ornate best:

altered slide mounts

slide mount pins/magnets

i've been altering these cute little slide mounts like crazy. they are really fun to work with, and i like the tiny size - though i have to admit i have trouble making the inchies that Lia does so wonderfully.

it's spring break for me and the only let down is that one professor assigned a paper to do, which is due right when i get back to school.
